Every day Fareshare opens their high-volume kitchen for colleagues to build relationships and have fun while creating hundreds of meals for people in need.
Groups are guided by experienced chefs and may pick up cooking skills as they roll pastry, bake quiches, crack eggs, create sausage rolls or veggie rolls and complete other cooking tasks. They will also learn about food waste, food rescue and food poverty in our city.

The new Brisbane Kitchen is ready to go! Help power the biggest charity kitchen in the Southern Hemisphere. Teams undertake a variety of kitchen tasks to prepare, cook and pack meals. Importantly they will be making use of rescued food that would otherwise go to landfill. Groups will be guided by experienced chefs and may even pick up cooking skills as they dice meat, chop vegetables and pack meals.
The cost is the following:
– 8-16 volunteers = $750 +GST
– 16 or more volunteers = $50 per volunteer +GST
– For larger groups please contact for quote.
Volunteers need to be able to stand on their feet for 3 hours
All kitchen volunteers are required to wear a cloth apron and cap or chef’s hat to cover their hair. If your organisation has corporate aprons and caps then please feel free to bring these. Volunteers are also welcome to bring their own aprons and caps/scarves/hats from home. Otherwise all participants can be supplied with a FareShare apron and chef’s cap.
FareShare offers a unique and meaningful corporate volunteering experience for businesses and other organisations wanting to spend time together making a difference.
The FareShare kitchen provides the perfect setting for employees to interact with colleagues across departments and levels, while making a tangible difference. No special skills are required and everyone participates on an equal basis.
Participants will learn about the impact of hunger in our community and leave with a real understanding of how their efforts have directly helped disadvantaged Australians.
Groups from 4 to 40 can be accomodated.
