This charity started work across SA providing vulnerable kids with emergency, age-appropriate backpacks, containing a range of items including clothes, pjs, underwear, socks, toiletries and comfort items. Backpacks 4 SA kids have recently expanded their program to include HomeStarter Packs (for DV survivors) and Anchor Packs (for teens).
Your company can get involved to help pack the backpacks and contribute to the care, safety and wellbeing of kids during periods of dislocation from home and routine care.
For kids who leave home with little notice and often with no clothing or essentials, these backpacks make a significant difference in their lives.
Time Commitment: 2 hours at the Backpacks 4 SA kids warehouse
Availability: Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays 9:30am – 11:30am
Team Size: Backpacks 4 SA kids can accomodate up to 25 volunteers.
In these sessions volunteers will sort donated stock into racks and then start packing to fulfil orders. Volunteers will work in teams and are given a packing sheet to guide each team on exactly what is required in each backpack.
