Bear Cottage is the only children’s hospice in NSW – a very special place that’s dedicated to caring for children with life-limiting conditions.

You and your team can make a significant difference to the children and families cared for at Bear Cottage.

About the opportunity

Corporate Working Bees

Bear Cottage has been specifically designed for kids in a way that allows them to feel at home. But the house and surrounding gardens need maintenance and care. That’s were you come in!

Activities may include painting, sanding outdoor furniture, decorating the house at Easter and Christmas time, cleaning the toy cupboard or any number of other activities depending on the needs of the house at any given time.

To minimise the impact on the children and families staying at Bear Cottage, one Working Bee is held per month. There is great demand for these days and priority is given to organisations who are supporting Bear Cottage financially.

The cost is $2,500. This covers costs of staff supervision, food and beverage costs and materials costs for projects.

Time Commitment: Half Day or Full Day (between 10am – 3pm) – depending on the task.

Additional requirements:

A working with children check is required.

Bear Cottage asks that your company confirms their employer’s workers’ compensation coverage in writing prior to the start of the Working Bee.

Volunteers are asked to:
• wear closed toe shoes
• wear casual/appropriate clothing
• bring a hat
• wear sunscreen
• bring gardening gloves (if required).
• If you have any allergies, please make sure you alert Bear Cottage staff and take appropriate precautions.
