Big Ears Animal Sanctuary is a 25 acre property located 15 minutes from Launceston.


About the opportunity


Big Ears is a safe haven for many different species of rescue animals. Volunteering at Big Ears is not glamorous, it involves hard work, getting dirty and working is all types of weather. You will make new furry friends, helping to make their lives comfortable.

Some volunteering jobs include:

  • – Sorting the food bins and feeding the animals,
  • – Cleaning and filling water bowls in the 110 rabbit paddocks,
  • – Preparing and feeding the special needs animals,
  • – Cleaning cages and pens of poop and old food,
  • – Brushing animals,
  • – Helping provide health care,
  • – Washing bedding,
  • – Socialising with the animals,
  • – Painting kennels, shelters,
  • – Garden/paddock maintenance.

Group volunteers will be asked to do targeted specific tasks together.

Additional requirements:

Volunteers will undergo an induction and training upon arrival. Please wear old comfortable clothing, closed toe shoes, sunscreen and a hat.
Please bring your own lunch/snacks, we ask all produce is VEGAN. Bottled water, soft drinks, tea and coffee facilities and a fridge are provided.
