Ronald McDonald House Hobart is an independent, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to providing vital support and accomodation for families with seriously ill children.

Volunteering at the Hobart house supports families with children undergoing care at the Royal Hobart Hospital.


About the opportunities


Make a Meal

Cook meals for families staying at the house. The Make a Meal dinner program gives families a welcome break from preparing a meal and having to wash up, and gives them the chance to spend some quality time together.

Ronald McDonald House Hobart provides the kitchen, and you provide the food and enthusiastic chefs!

Time of commitment: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30pm to 8pm

The cost is $250 + cost of ingredients.

The maximum of volunteers is 6.


Baking with Love

Baking with Love gives families a lovely home baked treat to brighten their day. Teams can bake and cook up a range of sweet and savoury treats together, before packaging them up for families to snack on.

Time of commitment: Fridays from 10am to 2pm.

The cost is $250 + cost of ingredients.

The maximum of volunteers is 6.


Working Bees

A Working Bee may involve housekeeping duties such as general cleaning and maintenance tasks, assembly of furniture, organisation/redecoration of spaces, or any other tasks that needs doing…

Time of commitment: Fridays from 10am to 2pm.

The cost is $250.

The maximum of volunteers is 6.


Additional requirements for all opportunities:

  • – Volunteers are asked to bring ingredients for making an evening meal for 20 people + yourselves.
  • – Please tie hair back, wear closed toe shoes.
  • – If you are sick or have a cold, you are asked to stay home for the health of the kids.
  • – A working with children check is required.
